*dusts off LJ*
Jun. 17th, 2014 03:37 pmLife's... life. Ups and downs, you know how it goes. Hubs is looking for a job again, hopefully the next one happens quickly.
I'm trying to get back into writing again. To that end, I signed up to Rough Trade next month. I'm both very excited and frankly, scared at the prospect. Two week-long segments to write a 9-10k story in respectively SGA and HP fandoms. Oh, and did I mention that it's daily posting, no betaing allowed? Yep, it'll be interesting ;-)
Been crashy and flaring with the weather changing. Today's a "I don't have a brain"-day, so I've been working on mindless knitting. I'm hoping to work through my WIPs and finish stuff.
Have a garden for the first time. It's going okay, I suppose, though some of the things are going yellow. I've had a ton of sugar snap peas, though, which is cool. And the strawberries are spreading like crazy, but not too many berries as of yet.
Eh, that's about all I have in me right now.

It has come to my attention that under a 1979 North Carolina Supreme Court ruling, someone who begins to have sex can at no time during intercourse make the decision to stop. Even physically restraining the non-consenting partner, causing injuries, does not qualify the act as rape.
In effect, this decision legalizes rape.
This egregious violation of human rights and bodily integrity must be ended immediately. Rape survivors already face major obstacles to prosecuting their rapists, but to dismiss cases by saying that under law a woman has no right to withdraw consent creates a new level of injustice.
The victim’s father in the case that brought this ruling to light has been in contact with you, not to ask that his daughter’s case be reopened, but simply to make certain that, in the future, no other women will have to go through having their rape called consensual sex under this court precedent.
Please introduce legislation clarifying that rape occurs in any situation in which penetration/intercourse occurs without consent, whether or not there was initial consent to any act.
Please click to petition and sign. Re-blog also, please. I can’t even.
I have Tumblr followers who live in North Carolina. I know who you are and to an extent where you live (in which state you live, that is).
Ugh…why does my beloved NC have to be so ass-backwards sometimes?
Sign, reblog.

I don't have Tumblr myself, and don't know how to use that site, which is why I posted the link, too. Please go from there, rather than my LJ.

Wow... Beth, Danny and Kayden showed up way later than I anticipated. And Trina was later still. So now I'm left with a ton of food (I don't even know how the drumsticks turned out, because we ate so late with the rest of the stuff ((soup turned out great, as did the nachos)), and I'm about to head to bed). At least I won't have to worry about cooking any time soon? The brownies turned out good, too, so I'm glad for that.
We watched the game for a while, but everyone wanted to play Rockstar, so we switched to that instead. My voice is kinda scratchy right now lol. I was designated to the mic, though Danny and Beth both had a go, too. I did drums for a bit, as well. Apparently though, no one understands how I'm able to do as well on drums and singing lol. Which is very funny to me, because I don't feel I do well at all! Ah well.
Kayden hadn't had a nap yet, so they ended up leaving early (about an hour ago). Trina stayed long enough to get a brownie lol.
As I said, I'm about to head to bed, after I check LJ and e-mail and stuff. Hopefully I can sleep! I've been having headache issues off and on all day, which sucks, but at least it didn't become a migraine. I'm hoping it won't, either! I'm exhausted though..... I got all the dishes done (for all of the 2 hours that that lasted for -_-), the laundry taken care of and the last of the trash out the door. I've been a very busy beaver these last few days! Tomorrow, I intend on doing... nothing. Knit maybe, go online probably. But aside from that, nada! I've earned a rest lol.
I think Dustin had a good day. I asked him and he smiled and said it was ok, but he still doesn't like birthdays lol (coming from him, that means he had a good time).
Oh, minor addendum to the plans for tomorrow. Danny and Beth said they might come over again and play Wii. But that's fun stuff, so that's ok ^_~
