naelany: (not amused)
As I listened to the news this morning, I was confronted with yet another story of toy recalls. I just looked it up. It's not just toys this time, either. Boy scout badges, mugs, decor items and other things are also subject to the recall. Oh, and lets not forget journals and bookmarks, too. *sigh*
I have come to the conclusion that I no longer feel comfortable buying stuff from stores for any of my nieces and nephews (and other children I know). I just don't. So much now is made in countries which have had many recalls. So little is made here, in the US. I know I've said it before, but it just was driven home again today. Especially, because some of the things mentioned are actually things I would have considered buying prior to today.
I need to learn to make toys, I think. Sew, knit, anything. I need for my body to stay nice, so I can actually make most of the presents I give throughout the year. Or trade for them..... I hope next year will be a better year for that, then this one has been.

Oh, I also found this, a way to test toys for lead paint yourself. Check it out. $6 s worth it, if you ask me.

O.o I just found more recalls, these are issued by JoAnn's Fabric.
