Bobble increase
K1, yo, k1, yo, k1 all into the same stitch.
*Reverse knitting and work these 5 sts.
Repeat from * 4 times.
Pass second, third, fourth and fifth sts on RH needle over last st made.
Thanks
Never mind, just stumbled upon a video showing how to make them, brilliant!
ETA: never mind alltogether, since I apparently won't be using the bobbles at all. Just to clarify, I'm making a hat, no pattern, just making it up as I go along. I was thinking about putting bobbles in, but they don't seem inclined to appear. No, I'm not having a problem with them, they just don't want to be in the hat. It's a muse thing ^_~. Plus, this way I should be able to wear it either way. It'll be a simple thing, but eh, that's ok. I can continue to experiment with patterns any time, learn new stitches and all that jazz. Right now, I want a hat, because it was cold out there this morning ^_~

Date: 2006-03-13 09:49 am (UTC)There was a group called "Drukwerk" with the lead-singer Harry Slinger who always was wearing a red hat with a rolled rim that he had made his trademark so to speak.
Your dad wanted to have them to wear at work instead of the white paper hats he was wearing, he said they would look better, which they did. So he made a few himself and they turned out pretty good.
I can't remember if he has worn them though and if he did how long he used them, don't think it was very long, it just wasn't practical with the work he was doing.
Make a pic wearing the hat when it is done please, you know you always looked good with something on your head. Remember we always said you were having a " hat face" ;), it didn't matter what you had on it always looked good on you.

Date: 2006-03-13 05:51 pm (UTC)Yeah, I'll take pictures soon. The hat is done and not looking half bad, I just don't know how well it'll look on pictures, since it's all black and hard to see.

Have you already been able to re-colour your hair?

Date: 2006-03-13 06:34 pm (UTC)Is it handwash or can you wash it in the machine as well? That was something (besides the itchy/scratchy bit) that kept me from buying it, is too hard to do handwash (tried it once and it still shrunk )

Date: 2006-03-13 06:38 pm (UTC)The sweater I have is dryclean only, but I've got something that'll let me clean it in the dryer instead. Works like a charm. The other wool sweaters I had, Dustin unfortunately ruined when he did the laundry last time *sigh*. They're now half felted and 2 sizes too small for me

Date: 2006-03-13 06:39 pm (UTC)And the sweaters Dustin shrunk..he forgot to put them in the wool cycle, and also put them in the dryer... if he'd used the wool cycle and taken them out to dry flat, they'd have been just fine

Date: 2006-03-13 06:50 pm (UTC)Because I still can see something, but</> not see any depth it is very hard for me to see what I am doing and strains my eyes too much unfortunately, you know I was always doing something, be it knitting, sewing or some kinda embroidery, but helas. Don't you think I would love to be able to do those things again? That lady you are talking about was blind, and the problem with me is not being able to focus and see depth. It sounds strange but that makes it harder.
You know how bad it was (and still is), remember you and Henrik being here one time and me pouring wine on floor and table instead of my glass, you started to laugh and said " don't you think the table and the floor have had enough now mom, if I were you I would pour the rest in your glass"

Date: 2006-03-14 10:04 am (UTC)Sorry Karin, but that is a very stupid remark to make, specially coming from you. You know what it is like for me in everyday life.
You saying I need to train closing my eyes would mean that I would go through life having my eyes closed all the time, because my eyes affect me with everything, not just doing things like knitting.
When a female phsygologist mentioned that to me years ago and I told you what she had said, your reaction was the same as mine is to you now. You said that she was a very stupid, ignorant woman to make that remark because it just isn't doable nor would it be effective.
I will just have to go on as best as I can with the restrictions my eyes give me, that is the reality for me. It isn't easy and it is very tiring always having to focus 100% on what your doing all the time, but that is the way it is. I have to accept that my eyes are the way they are, which isn't an easy thing to do I assure you, but unfortunately that is my reality. I can't slack or things will go wrong as you well know..... reminds you of the time I fell out of the hole in the attic, the wine pouring I mentioned earlier and other incidents that happened in spite of doing my very best. I don't pour things in the living room anymore since that time, but in the kitchen on the worktop, it doesn't matter when things go wrong there.
So please, think before you say things like that, because hearing/reading things like that do hurt you know, specially coming from your own daughter, who should know better.

Date: 2006-03-15 03:14 pm (UTC)I am in no way saying to go through life blindly. I am just saying that some things you can train yourself to do, with some changes to how you used to do them.
If you don't like it when I say something like that, tough, that's how it is. I know that it isn't easy for you with your eyes, I do remember that. It's a handicap, and like many other handicaps out there, there are limitations. However there are also things that can be done, either by outside help, or by training yourself.
