Uhm.... is it right that when I start the heel turning bit, that when I've "consumed all stitches" on the knit side, I still have some left on the purl side?????? I've just done as it said (at least, I think I have), and am left with 4 stitches on the purl side. Did I do something wrong????

Just passing through from craft grrl uk community.
I knit backwards or something and always wind up on the wrong side... continue as if it was supposed to end on the purl side and you should be ok unless you forgot to consume stitches on one side as you went along?

I don't believe I forgot to, no. I had stitches "left over" from the start of the heel turn...I don't have a clue what I did wrong (if anything). I'm new at reading patterns, so I'm a bit hessitent about them lol.
Thanks for replying though

It's really hard to answer this question without seeing the pattern and the sock in front of me, but sometimes i have "extra" stitches as well. If you can turn, purl across, do your slip&P2Tog and all that as established and end up at the end of the row, you're good. Just turn after that and knit across the row before picking up the heel falp stitches. If those "extra" heel stitches can't be used up in one last purl row, you probably missed something in the heel turn somewhere. You can always rip out just the heel turn, back to the end of the heel flap, and give it another go.
